We Should Be The Best We Can Be For We Are All God's Masterpiece

Foundation Stage Wow Start

The new topic for foundation stage children is Amazing Animals. They had a surprise parcel arrive in each of the foundation classes and they used their wonderful imaginations to figure out what was inside. They shared all of their ideas with each other and practised writing sentences too. All of the children are super excited to find out more amazing facts about different animals.

Year 1 & 2 Wow Start

This term the topic for Year 1 and 2 is Toy Story. To start their topic, the children had a fun day sharing their favourite toys, getting ‘Lost in the Toy Museum’, and making their own Forky from Toy Story 4. The teachers also got involved by dressing up as their favourite toys.

Year 3 & 4 Wow Start

Today, at school, all of the tea and coffee had been stolen. We were quietly sat in assembly when Batman and Robin burst in! They searched around the hall for some clues. They found a joker card, a penguin wrapper and Batman climbed up the climbing frame and found a cat! It was so funny and everyone was laughing at them whilst they searched around. They left the hall in the Batmobile and went in search of the Penguin! We went back to our class to do some fun things and eventually they turned up at the window - everyone was so happy because they had the tea and coffee in their hands and we knew the teachers would be happy again! - By Tabitha L, Year 4

Miss Rigby explained what was happening. Suddenly, Batman and Robin ran into the hall and explained in a heroic voice "Someone has stolen all the snacks in the staffroom!" They then ran around the hall to find clues. Robin found a clue with a jumping man card, we though it was the joker! Batman also found a clue from a chocolate bar that had the name Penguin. Batman climbed up the climbing frame to find a cat for cat woman. It was really fun to watch. Lastly, Batman and Robin ran back to the Batmobile to go to the penguin hideout to retrieve the snacks for the teachers. When we got back into the classroom Batman and Robin returned with the stolen goods by banging on the window and door. We all cheered and they went to go and put them back where they belong. - By Oliver R, Year 4

Year 5 & 6 Wow Start

On Tuesday 17th January, we had a visit from a “time traveller” from the Anglo-Saxon times. She taught us about the weapons and armor that was used during battle. We were also taught about what men and women would do. Even how they went to the toilet! After that, we did some activities such as, Anglo-Saxon board games (which we found really fun) and writing with a quill. Some other fun things we did included learning about what they did for court, dancing to Anglo-Saxon type music, learning about the Anglo-Saxon city names and finishing it off with a common Anglo-Saxon story. Overall we really enjoyed the day and think that the younger years should look forward to it. - By Addy C & Ellis B, Year 6

On Tuesday, Year 5 & 6 had an Anglo-Saxon Day and a lady called Layla came in and had lots of activities for us. Firstly, we were all in the hall with her and she showed us some shields, armor and weaponry. Excitingly, we got to put some on! One of us nearly got stuck in some chainmail forever! During the day, we played games like Nine Mens Morris and a dice game and we learnt how to write in runes with a quill and ink. We got to make brooches and found out about lots of places in Britain that the Anglo-Saxons named, like Oxford means a place where oxen cross a river. Also, we pretended to be in an Anglo-Saxon court and Layla taught us a dance that they did after court. She also told us a famous Anglo-Saxon story that would have been passed down the generations.  - Miss Fortnum’s Class
