We Should Be The Best We Can Be For We Are All God's Masterpiece

Year’s 3 & 4 R.E topic this term is Sikhism. On Tuesday 21st February, they had a wonderful time visiting the Gurdwara in Northampton. This visit was an integral part of the children's learning experience, where they had the chance to study the traditions and customs of the Sikh Faith.

"First we went into the place of worship but before we went in we took our shoes off and washed our hands and also covered our heads with a scarf so everyone is equal. Then we went into the langar (kitchen) for some biscuits and juice. Everyone sat on the floor. After that we went to the museum which had some really cool things like daggers, spears and karas. What I enjoyed most was being equal with everyone." - By Kian L, Year 4

"The Gurdwara was beautiful. It was really calm and quiet. First, when we got there, we had to take our shoes off and wash our hands. Then we walked in pairs through the double doors. We saw the Chaur being waved over the Guru Granth Sahib Ji every minute. A man was reading from the Guru Granth Sahib in an old type of Punjabi. We listened to a lady talking and then split into two groups. One group went to langar and one went to the museum. In the langar we had biscuits and squash. Everyone sat on the floor together as this shows that all people are equal. When we went to the museum there were so many interesting things to look at - We learnt that Kaur means princess, but not a Disney princess that needs saving. This was a brave princess who takes her army into battle. We had a blast of a time!"- By Amelie R and Felicity C, Year 4
