Years 4 & 5 Girls Experience at Silverstone Museum
On Tuesday 4th July, a group of year 4 & 5 girls went to Silverstone to promote girls on the track. It was a brilliant experience. At the very start of our amazing day we met with the first disabled lady to drive a race car. Most people do not get the chance to sit in a famous persons vehicle, especially Nathalie’s, so this was super exciting. We did a pit stop challenge to see who could change the tyres in the least amount of time. Did you know the fastest time to change this is 1.7 seconds by Redbull? Overall we did not win but we did it in 14.09 seconds. This was one of our favourite challenges. We also had a virtual reality experience in the cinema port where we came 4th. A paramedic who works on a track for the Grand Prix came in and taught us more about CPR. Also, in the museum we raced each other on a giant scalextrics track. Before we went to do the CPR, we built a lego race car. We had to get our construction brains on and build it. After we built it, we used the ipads to make commands and then we tested it. We met some aerodynamicists, who taught us about the makes of cars and how to make them go faster. It was so fun! - By Grace G & Sienna R, Year 5
