World Mental Health Day 2023
On Tuesday 10th October the children celebrated Mental Health Day as a whole school. They began the day with an assembly where Mr Tyler discussed areas of mental health. The children then participated in various activities within their classes. Many of the children wore an item of yellow to raise awareness by using the slogan ‘Hello, Yellow’.
Hazel class had a go at a mini meditation to help them be calm and learn more about their thoughts and feelings.
Beech class had a circle time about their feelings linked to their story ‘The Colour Monster’. They talked about who their trusted adults could be and what they could do when they feel sad, scared or worried. They then coloured in a picture of their colour monster according to how they were feeling on the day.
Elder class talked about bottling up emotions and how that feels. They then developed some strategies on how to cope with these emotions. They created play dough faces showcasing different emotions the class felt throughout the day.
