World Book Day 2022
On Thursday 3rd March 2022 we celebrated World Book Day.
In Foundation Stage we read the story of "Farmer Duck" We had a surprise visit from some of the characters from the story; we watched and listened as they told us the story in the outside classroom. Throughout the day we had fun acting out the story and retelling it with puppets in our puppet theatre. Finally, we wrote speech bubbles for each character saying their repeated phrases.
Year 1 children shared the story of The Tiger Who Came To Tea, by Judith Kerr. They used adjectives to describe the tiger in our story and made fierce tiger masks.
In Year 2 they wrote a piece based on George and the Dragon: "My dragon looks furious, ferocious and beautiful. She is the colour of the sea. She lives under a massive shell. She can’t fly but she is fierce and just one click of her tail you’re going to be blown away. She breathes ferocious fiery fire. Her claws are as sharp as a sharpened razer. She’s always by my side! I love her!" An extract taken from Darcy D Year 2.
In year 3 they looked at the book Jumanji- it is a portal story where the players have to face challenges against animals from all over the world. The children made their own portal games and wrote instructions for them.
In Year 4 they wrote a diary entry filled with emotion based on the events happening in their book “My name is not refugee.”
Inspired by the book Melt by Ele Fountain, Year 6 produced a piece of writing.
