On Friday 8th March, 4 Year Six girls were chosen at random and invited to the Mercedes factory to enjoy a tour of the factory and meet Charlie Martin to celebrate International Women’s Day. Charlie Martin is a British racing driver and LGBTQ+ activist who has raced in multiple disciplines including single seaters, GT cars and sportscars.
I was really excited to meet someone famous. Listening to Charlie Martin and hearing how she had become a racing driving was really interesting. I loved seeing all the cars hanging from the ceiling, even though I was a bit scared that they might fall on me! We all got to enjoy a fizzy drink and some crisps and we got given a collectable figure of Lewis Hamilton which was great. It really was the best day! - Shanre Bruwer
It was a really good day. It was so cool to be able to see how everything is made, especially the engines. We met Charlie Martin and learnt about her which was really interesting. We all received a Lewis Hamilton collectable figure which we loved. - Iris Harris.
