At the beginning of June, a number of year 5 & 6 girls were invited to a girls rugby day at the Northampton Saints ground. The girls had the chance to play rugby within the stadium and even met some of the players before they left for their big win against Bath on the Saturday!
"At the Saints, we played some warm up games. We played 2 touch rugby matches; the first one we lost by 1 but then the second game we won by a lot. After we did that, we had pictures with the Saints team and we cheered them off for their match which they won! We had to search through the stadium’s chairs for the lightning players as a quiz. Later we looked at some of the rugby clubs that have an U12 girls team. Some time later, we had a tour looking at their trophies, the oppositions changing room which is painted in Saints colours and the Saints/Lightnings changing room that has a flag of lightning and Saints in the middle which after a match they put their uniform on. Overall, it was an enjoyable day for everyone." - By Elsie, Year 6
