Last Thursday we had a whole school R.E. day. Ziggy Brown, our R.E. advisor from the Diocese, joined us for the day to help us explore the Understanding Christianity Big Frieze. The Frieze tells the 'Big Story' of the Bible from Creation to the Kingdom of God.
We started the day with Collective Worship led by Ziggy, who shared the big story of the bible and explained the activities for the day. The children started by looking at the Frieze as a whole timeline of the bible. They were detectives and looked carefully at the panels on the frieze to find different bible characters and stories. We then shared some bible stories and mapped them onto our bible timelines.
Each Phase then focused on different panels from the frieze in more detail. Foundation Stage explored the Creation and Fall panels, focusing on the story of Noah's Ark. Key Stage 1 looked at the People of God panels, Years 3 and 4 explored Incarnation and Gospel, while Year 5 and 6 reflected on the Salvation and Kingdom of God panels.
In the afternoon, everyone created some artwork based on their focus panels. We then came back together at the end of the day to share some of our learning. The artwork the children created was amazing.
