On Friday the children in Year 1 and 2 had a special visitor. Mrs Elijah came to talk to us about how she celebrates Shabbat. Jewish people celebrate Shabbat every week from Sunset Friday to Sunset Saturday. It is their day of rest. Mrs Elijah showed the children all the things she uses to welcome in Shabbat each week and shared what she does.

We loved trying the Challah bread. It tasted sweet like donuts.
I loved when the candles were lit and then got put out by dipping it in the wine. It made sizzling sound!
We loved trying on the Kippah's and special clothes for Shabbat.
I liked smelling the spices from the fancy spice box. It was shaped like a cup. not a box.
