Excellence, Aspiration, Inclusion, Respect

On Thursday 6th January, Year 5 and 6 had an Egyptian Day which was really fun. An Egyptian queen called Cleopatra came to visit our classes! We got to see a body being mummified. In addition, we got to play with Egyptian toys and we built a pyramid out of wooden blocks. To do this, we had to work in teams. We found out about slaves and servants. Everyone made replica papyrus paper and we wrote on our new paper in hieroglyphics. We also learnt that Egyptians believed in the afterlife and that when they mummified someone, they had to take out all of the organs (apart from the heart), give gifts and sacrifice an animal so that the gods would let the person into the afterlife. Surprisingly, they didn’t think that the brain mattered so they chucked it away for the cats to eat! We also got told about what people wore and what they made their houses out of. I absolutely loved yesterday. The best bits were when we made the pyramid out of blocks and when we learnt how to mummify a body. I  really enjoyed the day. Amy-Rose S Year 5

It was really fun. Cleopatra was showing us how to mummify a body and I got chosen to get a body part out. We did some weaving and played some games that they played in Egyptian times. Poppie M Year 5

Yesterday was so fun. We played games and we got to mummify people. We learnt what organs go to which pots and we learnt how to play with Egyptian toys. The day was 10/10. Fred B Year 5
