Excellence, Aspiration, Inclusion, Respect

On Monday afternoon Mrs Elijah came to school to talk to the children in Year 1 and 2 about Shabbat and her Jewish faith. Mrs Elijah showed us all the things she uses for Shabbat each week and showed us what she does every Friday night. We all got to taste the Challah bread and listened to her say her prayers and blessings.

‘I liked tasting the challah bread because it tasted like normal bread.’ Freddie Kirton Yr 1

‘I liked the candles when they were burning.’ Oliver Reeves Yr 1

‘I learned that Jewish people have to pray over the Kiddush cup before they drink from it.’ Amber Hughes Yr 1

‘I liked the smell of the spices in the spice pot. They smelt like ginger.’ Edith Bailey Yr 1
