We Should Be The Best We Can Be For We Are All God's Masterpiece

On Thursday 7th March, we celebrated World Book Day in school and what a fantastic day it was! This year, each class focused their celebrations around the story Love is... by Sarah Maycock. Miss Bond shared the story in assembly and then throughout the day, children completed activities using the story as inspiration. Children created class books, poetry and even some art work too. Not only this, but the children also took part in our Book Swap again this year, which was a great success. Lots of children enjoyed reading their new books in class and in the quiet garden at lunchtime. Each class also visited the Book Fair to have a look at the various new titles that were on the shelves! There was a real buzz about reading throughout the school during the day and it was fantastic to see.

World Book Day is a really exciting day. We all got to dress up. I dressed up as Jack from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We got to pick a new book in the book swap and I chose a Harry Potter book. At the book fair I got a Ninjago book with a Lego figure. - Harry L, Year 2

At Brixworth Primary School World Book Day is really fun with lots of activities. This year we read a story called Love Is by Sarah Maycock. After assembly our class sketched a picture of the animals in the story and used watercolours to colour them in. We also wrote what we think ‘Reading Is’. Reading to me is calming, concentrating on the sofa. It was great to see everybody dressed up as their favourite book character. World Book Day really is a great day to celebrate books! - Kian L, Year 5

Reading is mysterious like a big fog cloud. It can also be meaningful and it can tell a story. Reading is relaxing like a hot chocolate. It is also a joker as it likes to laugh. Reading is a key to wonder, at first it can be boring but once you start turning the pages it can be a wonderful and magical place. - Storey dR and Poppy V, Year 5

Reading is going on adventures and discovering somewhere new. Reading is joyful and fun. Reading is a passion. Reading is dreaming. - Savana A, Year 4
