Once again, Brixworth Primary School would like to thank parents and the local community for the donations and warm welcome the children received during our recent Harvest Festival.
Harvest Festival is a chance for us to celebrate the food we eat and everything that we are thankful for.
Our Year 1 classes (age 5-6) set off on a delightful autumnal walk down to All Saints Church. Once there they were joined by family members to celebrate and thank God for the food given to us and being able to share it with the less fortunate.
The children sang songs, read poems and stories. Mrs Stiles’ class read ‘The Little Red Hen’, Mrs Hancock and Mrs Partridge’s class read ‘The Enormous Turnip’ and Miss Bradley’s class read ‘Goldilocks’. They had lots of fun and were very well behaved.
‘I enjoyed reading our poem and showing my muscles as an action’ Anthony B Yr 1
Once all the harvest gifts were collected at school and hampers collated Foundation stage children and Year 6 children delivered them around the village.
The Foundation children were excited to share their gifts with the residents of Pytchley Court, Saxon House and Boniface house. The children sang songs that everyone could join in with.
Our Year 6 children went to deliver Harvest boxes to the elderly around the village. They loved going from house to house and enjoyed seeing the smiles on their faces when they opened the door.
The hampers contained items such as fruit, vegetables, cans, biscuits and cereals.
‘We delivered harvest parcels around the village. It was a real joy to see the elderly people smile when they could be lonely and then they have the joy of seeing the children delivering food to them. We now feel proud of ourselves and it was lovely to meet them all.’
George H & Oliver J Year 6
‘I am writing to thank you, your staff and children for their kind donation of a harvest parcel that my mother received. In the 1970s she worked as a dinner lady and then in the 1980/90s as a classroom assistant at the school which she loved before retiring’ Mr H
‘A hugh thank you to the children and staff for the fantastic ‘Harvest parcel’. You only truly appreciate the pleasure these parcels give us when you are on the receiving end. It is so heart warming to be remembered’. Mr and Mrs B
‘Thank you so much for the harvest gift from the pupils of Brixworth School which my husband and I, both nearing 90 and both disabled really appreciate. It was so kind’. Mr and Mrs P
